In today’s video, I’m doing a handful of thrift store makeovers that seriously look high-end when they’re done. I started with an ugly little wooden drawer box that I grabbed from my Goodwill AS-IS (and y’all… it was basically $1.49). I cleaned it because it was gross, sanded it down, and instead of painting it, I stained the whole thing because I hate covering up real wood when stain will make it look that much better. The drawers had this thick glue mess in the center, so I used craft sticks to cover it, painted the drawer fronts black, and then added a simple “frame” to hide the imperfections—because the box itself was not perfect, and that frame made it look so much more finished. I also flipped a tray using Dixie Belle’s Dried Sage chalk paint and one of my rub-on transfers (that I didn’t even realize I had). I’ll be honest, I totally winged it, had a little peeling on the edges, and had to touch up—because that happens sometimes. Then I worked on another thrifted drawer that smelled like cigarettes (so disgusting), updated the handle with gilding wax, and added half wooden beads as feet for a little height. To finish, I painted two bottles (moss and black), added a silk screen design, twine, greenery, and even a little chicken piece from Chalk Couture—because I love mixing that black and brown vibe lately.
