About This Video

In this video I’m taking a handful of yard sale and thrift store finds and turning them into high-end Christmas decor on a budget. I start with a $2 lantern that was actually broken when I grabbed it, so I fixed it with hot glue, cleaned it up, and was so excited it still worked once I turned it on. Then I painted it black because black just matches my decor better—especially at Christmas—and it helps cover up little cracks too. After that, I styled it with a bunch of small greenery pieces, pine cones, and berries that I keep in big Ziploc bags so I can mix and match whenever I’m decorating. I also do a couple of thrifted sign-style makeovers using Chalk Couture silk screen stencils (that’s honestly when I use my Chalk Couture the most—thrifted decor just lasts and looks more high-end). I use bright white chalk paste for that classic, timeless look, then I add simple embellishments like greenery and a bow. One of my favorite quick flips is a “gather” house where I remove the wording, add rustic scrapbook paper to the back, and finish it off with a small wreath and mini Dollar Tree pine trees. Everything is short and sweet—easy steps, budget-friendly supplies, and results that look way more expensive than they were.
