About This Video

Today Tom and I drag a 1967 Pontiac Executive back into the land of the living. It’s been sitting for 14 years with a stuck 400 (probably), and we’ve apparently been assigned the public title of “engine unseasing specialists”… which I’m not sure I want on a business card. We do the classic Junkyard Digs GM method: pull the inspection cover, get on the starter ring, and walk it tooth-by-tooth with a pry bar. Turns out it was barely stuck—easiest unsticking we’ve done in a long time. From there it’s the usual revival checklist: get spark back (points were angry and corroded), clean up plugs, and then immediately get reminded why old fuel is a villain. The gas coming out of this thing looked like perfectly emulsified rust—like apple cider, except it’s Northeast. We rig a catch bottle, fight leaks, and eventually set up a temporary fuel supply so we’re not feeding the carb a science experiment. After some run-and-die behavior, the motor finally smooths out like butter, though we’re still watching top-end noise and oiling like hawks. Also: if you’re having a rough time, don’t be afraid to ask for help—seriously.
