About This Video

We drove five hours into the woods near Shitech, Wisconsin for what might be the dumbest good idea ever: show up with no snowmobiles, buy a $750 pile of forgotten sleds, and try to get at least two or three running before the “snowstorm of the century” hits (they were calling for 18–28 inches). It was me, Jarrett, and Tyler digging through old Yamahas and a couple Arctic Cats, figuring out what was a parts sled, what was a runner, and what was going to fight us the whole way. Two of the big trail sleds were almost too easy—fresh battery/charger, a little fuel, and they were basically ready to haul us (or an ice fisherman and all his gear) into the blizzard. The real meat and potatoes was the wrecked Yamaha Enticer: clutch issues, mouse nests, missing skis, a smashed belly pan, and all the classic “ran when parked” optimism. We cleaned and inspected clutches, stole parts from the woods, burned out an exhaust with a torch and gas like responsible adults, and even deleted a flaky throttle safety switch that loves to kill spark on old sleds. In the end, we had three running sleds, snow on the ground, and just enough time to go find out what breaks first—us, the clutches, or Wisconsin.
