About This Video

Don’t tell me… a quick and easy video. In this one, I drag a $1,000 1993 OBS F-150 (351W, two-wheel-drive) out of the woods behind my own place because the county wants the yard cleaned up—and because I’ve got a Topeka run in mind to go snag a big block. The truck’s a low-mile unit (107k), the body’s honestly pretty decent for what it is, and somehow the mice hadn’t turned the cab into a condo… at least not at first glance. We toss a battery in it, find out both dual-tank fuel pumps are dead, and confirm the Windsor will light off on brake clean—which is always a good sign, even if it’s ticking and leaking like it’s auditioning for a steam engine. From there it turns into classic ’90s Ford fun: bed comes off so we can get to the tanks, I attempt to be responsible and wash the truck first (it actually helps), and then we discover the rear shackles/hangers are basically made of rust. New hangers and shackles go in, tanks get pressure-washed, and we drop a painful amount of money on fuel pumps… only to have the fuel injection still run like a bag of cheese. We chase mouse-chewed wiring, find a coil/capacitor issue, and eventually get it to run “better” with heat and persuasion—enough to do a sketchy little driveway drive and confirm two things: it runs, and it absolutely does not stop. Next up is brakes, lines, and making this thing survive an actual road test.
