CES 2026 in Las Vegas is officially in the books, and on the show floor this year you seriously couldn’t walk five feet without tripping over a robot vacuum, robot mop, robot lawn mower, or robot pool cleaner. And honestly? Like 95% of them felt the same. But there were a few hidden gems that actually got me excited about where smart home automation is going. The biggest “holy grail” moment for me was RoboRock’s stair-climbing robot. Watching it climb the stairs and clean the stairs while it was doing it was absolutely awesome—and it did it flawlessly. If you’ve got a multi-story home, this is the kind of practical, time-saving automation we’ve all been waiting for. In the yard category, Yarbo stood out with their modular approach—mowing, snow plowing, and even debris pickup with a rear sweeper add-on. It’s definitely different than most of what’s out there. And then we get into humanoid robots, which I’m genuinely super excited about. SwitchBot and LG felt like the front runners because they seemed less gimmicky and more like actual useful solutions—spotting problems and handling chores like laundry or dishes. Of course, it’s CES, so there was also the Vegas spectacle: ping pong robots and even a humanoid blackjack dealer. Crazy times.
