Well, it finally happened: I tried to add another Pico remote and Lutron said “no more.” I hit the dreaded 75 device limit on my Lutron Caseta hub, which sounds huge until you’re a power user putting Caseta everywhere—fans, lights, and Pico remotes all count. So in this video I walk through the “pro-level problem” and the fix: installing Lutron Caseta hub number two so I can run another 75 devices and keep expanding without sacrificing reliability. I explain why the limit exists in the first place. Caseta uses Lutron’s Clear Connect frequency, which is a big reason it’s so instantaneous and dependable—it keeps traffic off Wi‑Fi and avoids the usual smart home congestion. The hardware setup for hub #2 is easy (Ethernet + power), but the app setup is the part that’s different: you have to add a second “Home” in the Lutron app (I named mine “My Home 2”). I also cover the main downside—devices on hub one can’t natively talk to devices on hub two (Picos included)—and why I don’t really care, because Home Assistant (or Alexa/HomeKit) becomes the brains that bridges everything together. Then I start filling hub #2 by upgrading my master bathroom switches and pairing them in the app so my original hub can finally breathe again.
