Our house isn’t a lab; we’ve got five people living here, and the whole point is building automations that save time, money, and a bunch of household headaches. This year I’m doubling down on utility: more Home Assistant-style automation tutorials, more presence sensing, and more “it just adapts” setups that you don’t even notice… until it’s gone. The second focus is designing a smart home around every person in the house. My oldest is 22, so privacy and independence matter. My 15-year-old wants things that are cool but not intrusive, and my 8-year-old just wants the wow factor. Meanwhile, my wife and I need simplicity and stability — automations that don’t fail. And yes, I’m still doing product reviews, but with brutally honest feedback: if something is an expensive paperweight, I’m going to say so before you waste your hard-earned cash.
