I’m here in fabulous Las Vegas opening up CES at Unveiled, and I walked the floor to show you several of the hottest products I saw this year—especially the stuff that’s actually practical for a smart home (and a few wild ones that are just fun). We start with R2C2, an integrated search-and-rescue combo where a doglike ground robot teams up with a thermal-imaging drone to keep humans out of harm’s way. From there I checked out some AI-driven lifestyle tech, including an AI chef that cooks from bulk ingredients (not prepackaged meals), plus a couple of “companion” robots—one that’s basically a pet alternative for people who can’t have pets, and another designed to act like a robot (not a fake human) that plays games like hide-and-seek using facial recognition. On the home-and-yard side, I saw a commercial modular autonomous mower concept similar to Yarbo, and Yarbo also announced a smaller model aimed at lots around an acre to an acre and a half. And if you’ve been watching my channel for a while, you know Lutron is one of my favorite companies—so their new wood blinds were a standout: they can natively adapt to the sun’s position right inside the Lutron app, without needing Home Assistant. At $429 for most standard sizes, it’s a rare CES announcement that feels both premium and attainable.
