Instead of getting lost in theory, I’m showing you practical mixes you can do right away—how I combine colours on my palette to get useful neutrals, richer shadows, and more natural-looking variations than you’ll get straight from the tube. The goal is to make mixing feel less random and more repeatable. As I go through these mixes, I’m focusing on what happens when you push a colour warmer or cooler, and how small changes in your ratios can completely shift the result. If you’re newer to watercolour, this is a great starting point for building confidence with your palette. If you’ve been painting for a while, it’s still a helpful reminder that a handful of dependable mixes can cover a lot of ground in your paintings.
