I finished my coat! Very pleased with it and it will definitely be worn a lot. I started with the Tessuti London Coat and made changes to add a scarf instead of the hood, facings to the front opening, and a hem. About This Video

In this Friday Sews episode, I’m sharing the finished coat I’ve been living in my head for the last little while—and yes, it’s finally done. I started with the Tessuti London Coat and used a gorgeous kashmir jacketing from Fabricland Canada. I do a quick recap of where I left off last week, then walk you through the final push to get it over the finish line, including the details that made the biggest difference in how “wearable” it feels. The big changes: I skipped the hood and added a scarf instead (much more me), I added facings to the front opening so it has a cleaner, more polished finish, and I added a hem. I also chat about what I’m wearing (my Maven Patterns French Dart Shift—still one of my absolute favorite shapes) and I share a couple other projects before looking ahead to what I’m sewing next. If you’re sewing over 50 and want practical finishing ideas that actually make your handmade clothes feel better on your body and in your closet, this one’s for you.
