In this Friday Sews episode, I’m making Simplicity 9923 and walking you through what I did, what went well, and what I noticed (of course) once the camera was rolling. I’m using a lightweight cotton that feels like chambray—nice and drapey, but also the kind of fabric that will show you every little fit issue if you’re not careful. I spend a good chunk of time talking fit, because that’s the real story here. The fit isn’t perfect, and I’ve got excess fabric on the front above the crotch that I need to address—one of those details I always seem to catch while filming, when it’s already “too late.” I also share one stupid mistake I made along the way, plus the pant details and construction choices that make this pattern feel wearable.
