This week’s video is a fun little reset for my SewJo—because you all voted on what I should sew next, and I’m genuinely excited about the results. I start with a quick recap, then I share “your choice” project: Simplicity 9923. I’ll be making the pants view (not the shorts), and I talk through what I’m planning, why this pattern makes sense for my wardrobe right now, and how I’m thinking about fabric choice before I even cut anything. If you’re sewing over 50 like me, you know the planning stage is half the battle—especially when fit and comfort matter as much as style. I also take you along on my Fabricland shop—my favourite store is the Beacon Hill location in Calgary—and I show what I picked up for spring. It’s all bright, happy fabric (because I need that after winter), including a pink twill that’s perfect for shorts and a bold floral that could become a blouse or an overshirt. I wrap up with a little Friday Sews check-in, plus a few thoughts on boosting motivation when your sewing energy is feeling a bit flat. The pants will be finished and shared with you next Friday.
