I walked through my usual approach—thinking about muslins/toiles, reading the instructions carefully, and paying attention to the details that matter most when you’re sewing over 50: comfort, fit through the hips and waist, and whether the finished pants actually feel like something I’ll reach for in real life. The big headline is this: for the first time in ages, I didn’t do my normal list of fit tweaks. The only adjustment I made was the length, and everything else I sewed exactly as drafted. The result was a great-fitting pair of pants and a pretty good reminder that sometimes the best “adjustment” is simply trusting the pattern and the process.
