In this Friday Sews episode, I’m giving you a very real update on my coat project—because wow, it’s slow going. I’m working with the London Coat by Tessuti, and I’m kind of mashing it up with the tie/scarf situation from Vogue 9204. It’s not that the sewing itself is impossible… it’s more that I’m procrastinating, over-thinking, and taking my sweet time because coats feel like “big sewing,” especially when you care about the details and the fit. I also share what I’m wearing (Butterick 6788), and then we pivot into a fun holiday make: embroidered Christmas cards. I’m using a design from Urban Threads and stitching them out on my Brother LB6800 combo machine. It’s basic, but it absolutely does the job—and honestly, it’s a really satisfying way to use embroidery without committing to a whole garment.
