This weekend was supposed to be all about the Ford Ranger Raptor at Peters Mill Run and Taskers Gap… but before we even made it to the trail, I found a broken/missing gas tank strap bolt while I was under the truck doing some Line-X. There’s only a couple bolts holding that main belly strap, and I’m not about to go wheel it with a full tank and risk it. So Ford’s gotta fix it, and we pivoted to the Jeep Rubicon instead—because, well… stuff happens, and that’s part of the off-road life. We rolled up to George Washington National Forest super late (left around 10:45 PM, got in about 4:30 AM), grabbed a spot, aired down around 19–20 PSI, and sent Peters Mill Run on opening weekend (April 4th—trail just opened April 1st). I ran with Kevin’s Tacoma and Dave’s 4Runner, spotted a few obstacles, and we had a good time messing around—Toyota guys doing Toyota things. The Jeep did really well overall, but there was one obstacle I didn’t do because I was rubbing hard and I’m not trying to break stuff before I get a lift and tires. Takeaway: Peters Mill is fun but not super hard, and honestly the Raptor would’ve found it too easy anyway—next time I’ll probably go hit Uwharrie if I want more of a challenge.
