Those brand new, refreshed Ryzen 9000 X3D CPUs can actually be quite a bit power hungry if you let them behave like they want to, which is why today we're setting this R7 9850X3D to be better performing in multithread AND more power efficient at the same time! I'm presenting a couple different methods, both using PBO and the Curve Optimizer, but also with a fixed core clock and a static voltage offset. This will also work for the brand new 9950X3D V2. About This Video

In this video I’m showing you how to undervolt (and optionally overclock) the Ryzen 7 9850X3D so it runs cooler, pulls less power, and can even give you more FPS if you tune it properly. The big point here is: these refreshed Ryzen 9000 X3D chips can be pretty power hungry if you just let them do whatever they want, so I walk you through the exact BIOS tabs to get control back. It doesn’t matter if you’re on ASUS/MSI/Gigabyte/etc. or B650/X670/X870/B850 — the AMD Overclocking menu is the common ground. I start with the “set-and-forget” undervolt: Precision Boost Overdrive on Advanced, limits set to Motherboard, and Curve Optimizer set to All Cores, Negative, -15 (and if you’re unlucky, -10). Then I show a static/fixed setup for efficiency: manual CPU ratio (like 51) and a manual Vcore around 1.1V for a massive temp drop, with the tradeoff being a little performance loss. After that, I cover the stuff that actually gets tricky: EXPO/XMP basics, FCLK tweaks, and advanced PBO tuning like manual limits, scalar (10x), and boost override (+200) — plus how to back it down if you crash. Finally, I go over stability testing and the common sense rules so you don’t chase unstable “paper boosts.”
