Quick review of the HKC G27H4D, a budget 27-inch 1440p Fast IPS gaming monitor that runs at 260Hz, or up to 275Hz with overclocking. For under $200, this is a seriously interesting option if you want a fast 1440p gaming monitor without overspending. The panel itself is great for competitive gaming, but there are a few compromises to accept, especially with the stand and accessories. About This Video

Gaming monitors have been getting stupid cheap, but there are still a ton of overpriced models that just confuse buyers. In this video I review the HKC G27H4D, a 27-inch 1440p Fast IPS gaming monitor that does 260Hz out of the box and can be overclocked to 275Hz, all for right under $200. My whole point here is simple: if we can build a sub-$500 gaming PC that plays 1440p high refresh, I don’t see why you should be paying more than 200 bucks for a good 1440p high refresh rate monitor. I go through the unboxing (it’s very minimal), what you actually get in the box (power brick + a single DisplayPort cable, no HDMI), and the biggest compromise: the stand. You can only tilt it—no height adjustment, no swivel, no vertical—so you need to be okay with the fixed ergonomics or plan to prop it up, or just spend a bit more for a better stand. After daily driving it for a week, I tested it in Apex Legends, Warzone, and The Witcher to check motion clarity and colors. The OSD is surprisingly complete for the price, it gets very bright, and on my unit I had zero dead pixels and zero ghosting. If you want fast 1440p competitive gaming without overspending, this panel is genuinely solid—just accept the stand and accessory compromises.
