About This Video

In Episode 3 of my Become a PC Builder / PC Flipper series, I’m talking about what I genuinely think is the #1 skill if you’re trying to make money flipping PCs: understanding your market. Before you buy parts, before you build, and definitely before you list anything, you need to know what your PC is actually worth in the area you’re selling in. “Local” doesn’t just mean your neighborhood either—it’s the realistic geographic scope where your buyers come from, whether that’s your whole country (if you ship) or roughly an 80–100 km radius if you’re selling in person. I walk through the exact market research I do: first I check nearby PC shops selling gaming PCs, because most buyers compare you against a “reputable shop” before they trust a freelancer. My rule is simple: you want to be at least ~30% cheaper than a shop for comparable CPU/GPU, and if you’re comparing used to a shop’s brand-new pricing, you may need 40–50% to make it a no-brainer. Then I study the real competition—other flippers and local used listings—because that used-market price usually matters more than the shop comparison. At the end, you should have two numbers, and I generally price to move fast: the lowest realistic price wins, and I stay ready to accept my target floor before I even hit “list.”
