Here's the best high-end gaming PC you can build in 2026, even with all the RAM / SSD / GPU shortages going on. This build is centered around the Ryzen 7 9850X3D + RTX 5080: insane 1080p/1440p high refresh rate combo that's also 4K-ready, and still a smarter buy than chasing a 5090 during a shortage. Key idea: don’t overspend on the motherboard and spend where it actually matters (cooling, RAM tuning headroom, and a solid PSU). 🧩 Parts: CPU: Ryzen 7 9850X3D — https://amzn.to/4b4XQJ8 GPU: RTX 5080 (any) — https://amzn.to/4b6DjDM Motherboard: ASUS TUF B850 (Wi-Fi) — https://amzn.to/4rOJgfI RAM: Kingston Fury 48GB “8400Mhz” — https://amzn.to/4baeVBj SSD: Kingston Fury Renegade Gen5 — https://amzn.to/3MIyqZJ Case: Geometric Future M5 — https://amzn.to/4coyOH9 Cooler: Geometric Future Eskimo 420 — https://amzn.to/40bYJdJ PSU: SAMA 1200W 80+ Platinum — https://amzn.to/3NiZbEb ⚙️ Reminder: Undervolt + Tuning = free performance (guides on the channel) 0:00 – Why this is the “meta” high-end build (even in shortages) 0:44 – CPU + GPU choice (9850X3D + 5080) 2:05 – Motherboard / RAM / SSD strategy 3:45 – Geometric Future M5 + 420mm AIO setup 5:40 – PSU choice (why 1200W Platinum actually makes sense) 6:55 – Benchmarks, temps, and real-world performance 9:05 – Final thoughts + what you’d change 📷 Follow me: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imwateringpsus Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/imwateringpsus ⚙️ Gear & Recommendations: Thermal Paste I use: https://amzn.to/4l646mG Electric screwdriver for PC building: https://amzn.to/3IRfndi Mini Air Duster for PC cleaning: https://amzn.to/4l12fzx Deskmat: https://deskmat.io/imwateringpsus DISCLOSURE: Some links are affiliate links, I may earn a small commission if you make a purchase, at no extra cost to you. #pcbuild #9850x3d #rtx5080

About This Video

In this build I’m basically trying to save you from doing the most common “high-end during a shortage” mistake: chasing a 5090 at a ridiculous price. 5090s are basically impossible to buy at a decent price right now, so I built what I think is the meta high-end gaming PC for 2026 around the RTX 5080 + the new Ryzen 7 9850X3D. This combo is chart-topping for the stuff people actually play: 1080p high refresh (yes, even the absurd 540Hz crowd), 1440p 240Hz ultrawide OLED, and it’s still 4K-ready without lighting your wallet on fire. The big strategy is simple: don’t overspend on the motherboard. A very average B850 (even cheap options) will get you the same performance, so I’d rather put the money into cooling, RAM headroom, and a power supply that doesn’t hold your tuning back. I used an ASUS TUF B850 for the BIOS/fan control, Kingston Fury 48GB “8400” RAM because the price gap during shortages is smaller anyway, and a 1TB Kingston Fury Renegade Gen5 SSD because if you’re doing high-end, you may as well use Gen5—though Gen4 is fine for pure gaming. I also went all-in on Geometric Future for the M5 case and the Eskimo 420 AIO because it’s cheap for what you get, easy to build in, and it runs cool and quiet. And the surprise star is the SAMA 1200W 80+ Platinum PSU: insane value, tons of headroom, and I genuinely think it’s going to wreck the PSU market at these prices.
