In this video I’m giving you the intro to why SourceLab is a gamechanger if you’re trying to take your sound design to the next level, but still want to move fast. It’s $119 and well worth it in my opinion. Yes, Initial Audio sent it to me and this is a paid promotion, but they don’t control what I say—this thing is dope. I walk through how SourceLab is different than Heat Up 3 (Heat Up is more workstation, SourceLab is more hands-on modular sound design), and how you can start immediately with presets (I’m a preset king). You get a ton of categories, wavetables as your first sound source, and deep control like reversing loops, chopping, sectioning, panning, filters, and effects like chorus/delay/reverb/drive. Then I show how I’d really use it: grab something simple like a guitar, layer it with a harp, add a lead, add a flute—no “sound designer” degree required, just your ears—and save it as your own preset. I also show the built-in sequencer/MIDI workflow where you can drop MIDI in, detect key, edit notes on the fly, and drag it back out to your DAW.
