I measured their performance by assessing their volume, feel, rebound, design, playability, and overall value. I also wanted to give a proper sound comparison so you can hear their tone and see how loud they are too. Whether you're looking for something as quiet as possible, or a pad that feels as close to a real snare drum as possible, I think there’s something here for everyone. I’ve tried to cover a wide range of options for all budgets and preferences, so I hope this helps you find the right one for your setup! About This Video

Every drummer needs a good practice pad, but they’re not all created equal. In this video I tested 10 different drum practice pads back-to-back and judged each one on feel, rebound, volume, build quality, design/playability, and overall value. I also did a head-to-head sound comparison so you can actually hear the tone differences and how loud (or quiet) each pad is—because that matters a lot if you’re practicing at home, traveling, or warming up before a gig. I start with the most budget-friendly options and work up to the most expensive. Along the way, a few pads genuinely surprised me—especially the Remo Silent Practice Pad for how close it feels to a real snare while staying super quiet. I also break down specialty options like the RTOM Moongel Workout Pad, which has almost no rebound and really forces you to work for clean strokes. At the top end, my personal favorites are the Meinl Marshmallow (my favorite pad for the money and my main practice tool) and the Zildjian Reflexx, which is ridiculously versatile with two excellent, quiet surfaces. If you want the best match for your budget and your hands, this comparison should make the choice a lot easier.
