About This Video

In this Caturday LIVE, I’m back at my desk with my custom Roman Szmal palettes and I’m doing what I love most: making mixes, testing combinations, and seeing what kinds of colors I can pull out of a limited setup. This stream is very much a “paint with me” session—lots of swatching, comparing, and chatting while I build more useful mixtures I can actually reach for later when I’m sketching (especially when I’m painting cats and I need those sneaky neutrals). I’m using Bee Paper pre-cut 6x9 cotton paper and my Princeton Aqua Elite Stroke brush (1/4 in), so it’s a pretty simple, practical setup. The whole point is to explore how these Roman Szmal colors behave when they meet each other—how clean the mixes stay, where they granulate, and what happens when I push them toward muted tones versus bright, juicy blends. And because it’s Caturday, it’s also a cozy hangout: if anything gets too sensitive, just drop “lumpy elephant” and we’ll steer right back to cats and paints.
