About This Video

This week’s live is a Sunday one (and a bit earlier than my usual schedule), and I’m doing one of my favorite nerdy watercolor things: making dupes. The goal is to mix paints until I land on convincing matches for “Cabbage Green” and “Carrot Orange,” then swatch, compare, and tweak the mixes until they feel right. If you’ve ever looked at a specific color name and thought “Okay but… how do I get THAT with what I already own?”, this is exactly the kind of session where I talk through my choices and why I push a mix warmer, duller, cleaner, or more granulating. Because it’s a livestream, it’s also very much a cozy hangout vibe—cats, paints, and chatting. And yes, if anything gets a little too heavy, we’ve got the safe words “lumpy elephant,” and I’ll happily steer us right back to watercolor and kitties. If you’re building a palette on a budget (or you just love color mixing as much as I do), this is a practical way to learn how to chase a target color without buying a whole new tube.
