About This Video

In this Caturday LIVE, I sat down with my paints (and, yes, the cats) to experiment with an alternative split primary palette using Rosa Gallery watercolors. The whole idea came from a Reddit thread I was referencing, and I wanted to see how far I could push a limited setup—what mixes I could get, where it would sing, and where it would absolutely fight me. I treated it like a proper play session: swatching, mixing, and checking whether the palette could cover the kinds of colors I actually reach for when I’m sketching cats and building soft watercolor layers. Because it’s a livestream, it’s also very “real life watercolor”: I’m reacting in the moment, talking through decisions, and keeping it light. If anything veers into a topic that’s too sensitive, we use the safe word “lumpy elephant” and jump right back to cats and paints—because that’s the vibe here. If you’ve been curious about limited palettes, split primaries, or just want to see Rosa Gallery paints in a practical mixing test, this one is basically a watercolor sandbox session with me.
