About This Video

In this video, I’m showing you what’s in my school backpack for my junior year (grade 11). My bag is a classic black Herschel backpack, and I love it because it’s super simple—literally just a front pocket and a big pocket—so it’s easy for school and doesn’t feel complicated. I start with the front pocket essentials like my Apple earbuds (so I can listen to music when I’m doing stuff like English essays), my Fossil card holder wallet (tiny and easy to throw in a jeans pocket), a Casio scientific calculator, and the random-but-real stuff like gum, Altoids (wintergreen is my favorite and they’re weirdly hard to find in Canada), and my keys. Then I go through the big pocket, which is basically the “I’m trying to survive the school day” section. I have a heavy psychology textbook (I usually don’t bring textbooks home, but I’m not about to photograph an entire chapter), my Muji pencil pouch with all my basics, and a couple of Ziploc bags—one for period essentials and one for coins because my wallet can’t hold them. I also keep snacks (because vending machines are a scam when you’re broke), a black S’well bottle, an umbrella (Vancouver problems), folders because I hate binders, a Muji planner to help with my terrible time management, and a tiny emergency kit with Advil, hair stuff, and eye drops.
