Hi everybody—this is my UBC dorm move-in day vlog (for 2021), aka the chaotic “I’m so tired but also so excited” version of me. I start the day with everything packed up (including my guitar) and a very important car soundtrack called “emily’s big day,” and then we head to check-in… which immediately goes wrong because I signed the wrong person’s form. After that little moment, we finally get the key, test it out, and I show you an empty dorm tour: the washroom lighting is actually nice, there’s a closet, desk, bed, and then the best part—my literally 180 ocean view of the Pacific. I was fully in shock thinking about sunsets. From there it’s all the real move-in stuff: struggling because I forgot scissors (and apparently you can’t borrow them), testing if my Brita fits in the mini fridge, and realizing dorm closets are not made for people who are 5’3. We take a break to get lunch because we were starving, then do a grocery run and I do a mini haul (Febreze, garbage bags, drinks, Oreos, plastic wrap… the essentials). I also show how fast the tiny fridge fills up and how I started rearranging the room, because the wall space felt so white and I already knew I needed posters. Two months later, I finally edit this and film a proper outro—dorm tour coming soon.
