About This Video

In this video, I put the viral Miche Beauty Tropical Oasis Anti-Humidity Gel to the test on my type 4 curls as part of my Black History Month series where I focus on Black-owned brands. I did a one-product wash and go (yes, just the gel) and really took my time with small sections, a lot of water, and raking/smoothing so I could see what this gel is really giving—definition, frizz control, cast, and how it feels on my hair. I also talk a little about Miche being Black-woman owned (Michelle is the CEO) and why I’m always spending my coins with them because I already love other staples from the brand. Application-wise, the gel smelled sweet, felt “jelly thick” in the jar, but surprisingly lightweight on my hair. The clumping was immediate and my hair wasn’t getting frizzy as it dried, which is a big deal for me. After drying, I had that crunchy cast I like—at least at first. On day two after I stretched, my results looked bomb (shiny, healthy, defined) with no flaking, but I was confused because the crunch/firm hold wasn’t consistent through the mid-shaft. I’d use it again, but I need 1–2 more tests (and probably a heavier hand) before I decide if it’s truly repurchase-worthy at that price.
