About This Video

In this video I’m continuing my Black History Month series by putting y’all on to my CURRENT favorite Black-owned natural hair products and the essentials I keep coming back to for my type 4 curls. Some of these are staples you’ve seen me use over and over (because… it wouldn’t be my video without it), and a few are underrated gems that deserve way more hype. I’m talking gels/custards that actually define and hold, deep conditioners that give my hair that hydration it’s always begging for, and shampoos that cleanse without leaving me feeling stripped and sad. I start off strong with my ride-or-die gels: Ecoslay Jell-O Shot (eco-friendly, botanical, hard hold without that dried-out feeling) and The Doux Bee Girl Honey Curl Custard (affordable, viral for a reason, but yes—she can get crunchy and dry over a few days). Then I get into what some of y’all are skipping: deep conditioning. I share three I love—Mielle Moisturizing Deep Conditioner (super moisturizing), Melanin Haircare Plumping Deep Conditioner (my moisture + strength/protein “in-between”), and Alikay Naturals Honey & Sage (instant moisture, gravy texture, not the best smell but it works). I wrap it up with cleansers I trust: Pattern Hydration Shampoo for a luxe, juicy wash day, and Alodia African Black Soap Wash, an underrated cleanser that gets me clean without stripping.
