Hey y’all—welcome to my first wash and go of 2025. After keeping my hair tucked away (braided down under a V-part wig) for almost two months, I was so ready to have my natural hair back. In this video I do a fresh wash and go on my type 4 curls using products I already had in my stash, because I’m really trying to use what I own and still get results that will last me through the week. The combo I used was The Doux Bee Girl Honey Curl Custard and Pattern Curl Mousse. I love the custard on its own, but it can be “crunch city,” so I topped it with the mousse to keep the hold strong while helping the finish feel lighter and giving me more volume over time. I also talk through what it’s like coming back after the holidays (and all the chaos), why I prefer sitting under a hooded dryer instead of diffusing, and how my hair felt heavy and tangled at the roots after being braided down. My day one results came out shiny, defined, and super airy once I stretched it—plus I could finally touch my scalp again, which felt amazing.
