In this video I’m in a real time crunch (laundry going, clock ticking, all of it) and I’m doing a quick wash & go on hair that I washed, deep conditioned, and detangled the night before. I usually swear by Curlsmith’s Moisture Recipe In-Shower Style Fixer, but I was basically out—so yes, I cut the bottle open because baby, I’m using every drop. Then I switched it up and started testing Curlsmith’s Shine Recipe Fragrance-Free Shine Gel (Level 9 hold) to see if it could give me similar definition and frizz control. I apply the gel on wet hair (and keep re-wetting because water is key), but I’m keeping it real: the Shine Gel feels thinner than the In-Shower Style Fixer, so I was a little nervous at first. I also had to detangle with gel in my hair because my roots were tangled from drying in stretched puffs overnight—don’t do what I did. By the end, my curls were still defined and shiny, and I built up extra product in the back and front because those areas love to act up and I needed this style to last me at least 3–4 days. After sitting under the dryer, the cast was very crunchy, but the definition was definitely there and the hair started getting more life on day two.
