About This Video

In this video I take a minute to level set on what’s actually happening with the GM 6.2L L87 recall and a few related issues that are popping up on 2021–2024 GM trucks and SUVs. This isn’t rumor and it’s not emotion — it’s sourced reporting using publicly available info, plus some analysis you can verify yourself. I cover GM dealers moving from Mobil 1 0W-40 Supercar to Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 (the European formula) for recall-related service, and why the real priority is Dexos R approval — not whatever marketing is printed on the bottle. Same approvals on paper, but availability and cost clearly matter behind the scenes. I also talk replacement engines — what “new vs reman vs updated service stock” can mean, and why a proper GM reman isn’t a junkyard engine. In some cases, a reman built after the root cause is identified could actually be better than an early “brand new” unit. Then I get into Stabilitrak/brake warnings I’ve personally seen in extreme cold, and why low voltage is often the trigger. Finally, I touch grounding straps — what to inspect near the battery area — because a bad ground can cascade into a whole bunch of electronic gremlins.
