Camera hardware is basically identical, but the S26’s updated processing gives me more accurate white balance outdoors, brighter shots with better highlight/shadow detail, and smoother exposure changes in video. My buying advice is simple: if you can find the S25 around $699 (roughly $200 less), it’s an amazing value with years of updates left. But if the gap is smaller than $200—or you want the extra storage, slightly bigger screen, newer chip, and the more refined experience—then the S26 is the better buy for most people today.
