Join the Storyline Project Lab 👉 https://www.devlinpeck.com/storyline-project-lab In this workshop we dove into how to design a more gamified Storyline experience including digital badges, achievement tracking, and a virtual shop where learners can spend coins on rewards. Even if you're brand new to this kind of interactivity this session is a great starting point. We made solid progress in the 90-minute build, so if you want to follow along, you can download the asetts here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/14PSU3vsjzwLc-4vc-N1On17Yl3oeN-BD We also dropped a few bonus files into the mock-up folder in case you want to take the project further on your own. About This Video

In this live Storyline workshop, I built a gamified eLearning prototype from scratch (so yeah… you’re seeing the real-time troubleshooting too). The goal was ambitious: earn coins from quiz questions, track a streak like Duolingo, unlock badges for achievements, and eventually spend coins in a virtual shop to buy cosmetic upgrades for a “virtual office.” We didn’t pre-build the file, so I walked through the actual decisions I’d make as an instructional designer and Storyline developer when I’m trying to turn a basic question bank into something that feels motivating and fun. We started by importing a full question bank (49 questions) using Storyline’s import template instead of copy/pasting slide-by-slide. Then I showed how I use Slide Masters to avoid redesigning 49 question slides manually—customizing layout, typography, and UI elements so everything matches the Figma mockups. From there, we got into the core gamification mechanics: creating variables like Coins and Current Streak, displaying variable references on the UI, and using states + conditional triggers to update things like a streak/progress bar. If you’re new to this kind of interactivity, this is a solid proof-of-concept you can build on with more variables, conditions, and polish.
