If you're interested in building AI-powered simulations like this or exploring how devlin.ai works, head over to 👉 https://www.devlin.ai to start experimenting for free and see what you can create. If you’ve ever wondered how to build AI-powered simulations in Storyline—without spending days developing and coding—this video shows you exactly how to do it in minutes. In this live replay, I walk through how I’m using devlin.ai’s new simulation builder (just launched in beta) to create dynamic, conversational learning experiences inside Storyline. You’ll see the full workflow—from idea to working prototype—and how this approach can unlock faster, more flexible scenario design. This is still early, and that’s part of what makes this exciting. I’m building this alongside instructional designers like you, and this session is a transparent look at what’s possible right now and where this is going. If you’ve been looking for a way to make your simulations more realistic, scalable, and easier to build… this will give you a clear starting point. 👉 Start building with devlin.ai: https://devlin.ai/ 👉 View the text-based guide used in the demo: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RgL2ZH1Cc8hD3GnR3oQwWNXviRgNWD__C5-RbadeDZM/preview 👉 Download the Storyline template: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YlqP8nnLQTxs2_Dc9L9upSPcvAUmzqW_/view?usp=sharing Example simulations shown: SME interview simulation: https://devlin.ai/demo/SME-interview/story.html Sabrina’s demo: https://devlin.ai/demo/brushstrokes-and-lies/story.html This is an early beta, and the goal isn’t to replace how you design learning—it’s to give you more flexibility when building scenarios, testing ideas, and creating more dynamic experiences than what’s been possible before. You’ll get free credits to experiment (no credit card required), and early access pricing is currently available if you want to go deeper. About This Video

In this live replay, I show you how I’m building AI-powered simulations inside Articulate Storyline in minutes using the new devlin.ai simulation builder (public beta). The traditional way to build branching scenarios is slow, messy, and usually turns into multiple-choice conversations that don’t feel like real work. In the real world, people don’t have four options floating around in their head—so I wanted a way for learners to respond in their own words and get dynamic, realistic responses back. I demo an “interview the retiring SME” simulation where you have to extract real, usable details from a skeptical subject matter expert (Frank) before he leaves in two weeks. Then I pull back the curtain on what powers it: character instructions, behavior triggers (like “if the learner asks a vague question, give a vague answer”), and evaluation criteria with scoring, deductions, and full transcript tracking. You can see pass/fail, score distribution, and which criteria learners are struggling with. Then we build it together: generate the sim from a prompt, embed it in Storyline as a web object, create a handful of Storyline variables (like Frank_mood, sim_score, sim_feedback), and wire it up so the character’s states change based on the conversation. The goal isn’t to replace instructional design—it’s to give you way more flexibility to prototype, test scenarios fast, and create portfolio-ready work that goes beyond traditional eLearning.
