I know because I’ve been there. When I was getting started, I relied on forums, coffee chats and constant troubleshooting to figure things out. That kind of support still matters (a lot)—but now, with AI, you can access support 24/7 whenever you need it. In this video, I’m introducing a set of free AI tools designed to help you grow as an instructional designer. They’re trained on the same process we’ve used to help hundreds of people land roles in the field, and they draw from insights across 400+ YouTube videos and years of hands-on experience. If you’re working on your portfolio, building new projects or preparing for job applications, these tools are here to guide you through each step. About This Video

Becoming an instructional designer just got a whole lot easier—because I’ve been building (and obsessively refining) a set of free AI tools to support you 24/7. When I was getting started back in 2017, I relied on forums, coffee chats, and constant troubleshooting (including asking my girlfriend—now my wife—to look at my visuals every 10 minutes). That stuff still matters—feedback from real people and networking are still key—but now you can get instantaneous guidance whenever you’re stuck. In this video, I walk you through three ways to get that support. First is the community “AskDevlin.ai” bot that can answer questions and pull up specific, relevant clips from my 400+ YouTube videos (like learning objectives, portfolio ideas, or AI tools to learn). Second is a private DM-style “Become an ID” agent inside the community that’s trained on our process for breaking into the field—think: roadmap, portfolio structure (flagship scenario-based Storyline project + supporting projects), and next steps based on your background. Third is my Custom GPT (free) that’s great for things like tailoring your resume to a job description, improving project visuals, and even getting grounded when you’re feeling discouraged. My goal is simple: make you feel more supported, move faster, and build better work—without guessing alone.
