Good morning YouTube — it’s Dave here, back out on Dartmoor in the mist for a proper tor-bagging day. In this walk I take in three tors from the Four Winds car park: Over Tor first (a lesser-visited one that feels properly wild), then Little Mis Tor, and finally the main event — Great Mis Tor. It’s classic “can’t make its mind up” June Dartmoor weather: fog, drizzle, wind, a bit of sunshine, and plenty of bog underfoot when I head off-trail to reach Over. Over Tor is a scattered jumble of rock outcrops and, even though the road is right there, it still feels like you’re out in the middle of the moor. From there I sensibly hop back onto the military track and head up to Little Mis, where the views really start opening up across the Merrivale area — and I’ll be honest, Little Mis was a big surprise. Then it’s a bit of a featureless slog up to Great Mis, but the payoff is huge: it’s absolutely colossal, windy as anything, and every time you turn you find more tor rising up behind another outcrop. Along the way I also give a proper real-world nod to budget kit that actually helps on Dartmoor — especially gaiters — and I share a few route and weather tips to keep things comfortable when the moor is doing its usual thing.
