About This Video

Hello YouTube — Dave here, back out on Dartmoor for the 2025 Dartmoor YouTubers Wild Camp, pitched up on Honeybag Tor with Graeme (Dartmoor Adventurer) and George (The Dartmoor Podcast). I start near Bonehill Rocks, head past Bell Tor, grind up onto Chinkwell Tor with about 14 kilos on my back, then drop into the valley and climb up onto Honeybag. It was warm and muggy to start with, then the mist rolled in and we had a bit of drizzle that was more like cloud blowing across than proper rain. Once we were all set up, the plan was less “film everything” and more “actually meet the lads”, so it’s a chilled one. We had a wander around the tor, found a letterbox (George’s eagle eyes), and I pointed out a seriously sheltered little rock spot that’d be ideal in an emergency. Dinner was a mild disaster — I grabbed a chili non carne by mistake and it rehydrated badly, crunchy bits and all, so I won’t be doing that again. Overnight was mostly calm with a couple of gusts that rattled the tent, but putting the guylines out and wrapping the “lid” section around the poles really did cut down the flapping. Morning was ponies in the valley, no sunrise, a bit more exploring (including a Logan stone), then we packed up, left no trace, and split off in different directions — me back to the car and, importantly, a cooked breakfast.
