#izotope #Aurora - Smart Reverb In this video I explain the things I like and wish the plug-in had, I also provide an audio example of Aurora in use with a hip hop type song. Find it here: https://www.izotope.com/en/shop/aurora/

About This Video

In this video I’m going over iZotope’s new plug-in Aurora, and why it’s honestly one of the quickest “get it done” reverbs I’ve used in a minute. I walk through the different reverb types (room, chamber, plate, ambience, cathedral, hall) and show how it can cover a bunch of the usual reverb jobs inside one interface. I’m not just scrolling presets either—I’m talking about what actually matters when you’re trying to keep a vocal clean while still having a big space around it. The main reason I’m hyped on Aurora is the unmasking/ducking behavior: it gets the reverb out of the way when the vocal hits, then brings it back when the vocal stops. Normally, to do what Aurora is doing, I’d be running two plug-ins—something like Valhalla for the verb plus Trackspacer (or another sidechain setup) to carve space. Aurora basically combines that workflow, and it also gives you width control (keep the center for the vocal), brightness/darkness shaping, and filtering to clean up lows and highs. My one big wishlist item is tempo sync for attack/release, pre-delay, and decay—so I’m not manually calculating milliseconds with a reverb calculator. If they add that, this thing is a serious “best reverb of 2024/25” contender for me.
