In this video I’m digging into a question a lot of producers are scared to ask out loud: is Content ID (and specifically Identifyy) actually legit, or is it just another system that ends up exploiting creators? I’m not coming at this with malice toward anybody — I respect DJ Pain 1 a lot for putting this kind of info out there, and I’m using his discussion with Cloud9 as a jumping-off point to talk about how these third-party Content ID companies work and why people use them. I break down the “workaround” angle: producers with non-monetized YouTube channels can sometimes still generate revenue by having their beats/content claimed through a third party. But the big takeaway is you’ve got to read the terms and understand what you’re locking yourself into (some places have multi-year agreements). Then I walk you through my own Identifyy experience: after submitting a few tracks, I got hit with a verification process that felt weird and blunt—requesting link verification, referencing my email, and not clearly explaining what info would be requested next. I ended up not proceeding, and I’m asking you guys directly: have you passed verification, and did you actually get paid from it?
