About This Video

What’s going on peep’s—Nate (N828) here from CROSSBEATS MUSIC PRODUCTION. In this video I’m giving you my honest opinion on the Studio One 6 “upgrade” (or update, depending how you look at it). I’ve been on Studio One for years—since v2, really dug in on v3—and my channel was built on Studio One tutorials, so I’m not coming at this to bash PreSonus. I’m happy they’re still progressing the DAW and listening to feedback… about 80% of the time. I go through the new features and call out what impressed me and what had me scratching my head. The new Vocoder is cool, but I’m questioning if it’s worth upgrading for—especially when I’d rather see a proper pitch correction plug-in built into Studio One. I do like improvements like the Channel Overview, better sends/aux workflow, and the bigger send view so you can actually see what’s going on. ProEQ3 getting dynamic EQ is a real win too, because that’s genuinely useful for mixing and mastering. Bottom line: if you’re on Studio One 5 like me, I’m on the fence and I’d probably wait to see if it’s worth it. If you’re on 4 or earlier, it’s much easier to recommend. Price-wise, around $150 feels a bit steep, but if you’re coming from another DAW and Studio One fits your workflow, it can be a solid jump.
