We’re wrapping up an 8-day Europe trip (Germany/Austria) and I finally sat down to show the exact carry-on-only setup that Sadie and I have dialed after four or five trips over here. My whole goal is to stay mobile: no checked bags, no lugging suitcases between stays, and no stressing about lost luggage. Everything I bring has to earn its spot—multi-use, multi-day, and easy to wash in a sink when needed. In the video I walk through my GoRuck pack (first trip with it and I’m genuinely impressed), my under-shirt fanny pack system for passports/cash (plus backups and AirTags), and the simple “three-compartment” organization that keeps travel days painless. Clothing-wise, it’s basically a merino-first strategy: 72-hour shirts/shorts/pants that don’t stink and work across flights, city days, hikes, and bike days. I also show the little stuff that makes a big difference—snack kit for protein, adapter block, headlamp, paracord + carabiner for a mini repair/clothesline setup, and Dr. Bronner’s for washing clothes in the sink. Bottom line: we’ve spent close to three months total traveling Europe with a kit like this, and it’s been more than enough.
