In this video I’m doing a long-term review of our Northshore sauna tent that we’ve owned for a couple of years. I bought it after we sold the traditionally built portable sauna I made (I still want to build another permanent one someday), and I’ve gotten a lot of questions about whether a sauna tent is actually worth it. I break down what I genuinely like about it—mainly how portable and multi-use it is. We were out camping, used it as a sauna, let it cool down, pulled the bench out, and slept in it like an ice-fishing hot tent setup. No wiring, no electrical upgrades—just firewood and you’re in business. I also talk through the downsides and who this setup is best for. Wood stoves are awesome but slow, and depending on conditions it can take 20 minutes to an hour to get hot. It’s also not a “last 20 years” kind of sauna like a traditional build. If you rent, don’t have power, don’t have the space for a permanent structure, or want something you can take to the river/beach/camping, this is a great option (and honestly I’d take it over a barrel sauna because getting your feet up matters). I finish with practical tips: size the tent to your real use, consider a rain fly and a stovepipe water tank, avoid cold thermal mass like concrete, and use good dry firewood to prevent creosote issues.
