I had what I’m calling a genuinely cunning plan for my YouTube channel. For whatever algorithm-tech-stuff reason, YouTube seems to “know” my main channel as a vertical channel, so it happily pushes my Shorts and live streams… but when I post proper horizontal videos, it’s like: nah, don’t want to share that. So my idea is to upload my horizontal trip-style videos to my other channel (Ben Smith Music / Ben Music—whatever it’s called), keep that channel strictly horizontal, and then do a reaction on my main channel so my usual audience still actually sees it. I also ramble a bit (and I’m not even editing it—hiccups, wrong words, shaky cam, the lot). There’s a little life/admin update: I’ve got a live stream tomorrow, I’ve got a gig coming up, and my voice is… better, but also weird. Talking quietly feels fine, but the thought of hitting those chestier notes is properly uncomfortable right now, so I’m grateful I can rest it next week—no streams until next Saturday. I’ve been steaming, drinking tea (peppermint because lemon and ginger was making me a bit acidy), and trying to ditch bad habits and build good ones.
