About This Video

In this special video I’m introducing a new member to the Beginners BBQ Outdoors headquarters: the Weber Smoque XL pellet grill. Weber sent this one over and what got me excited is simple—it’s made for smoking. Not half smoking and half searing like some other grills; this one is built to produce really good smoke flavor, and it’s got a SmokeBoost setting that’s designed to keep temps where your meat can absorb smoke the best. I talk about why I’ve been wanting a pellet grill that just smokes and gives you that deeper smoke profile on your cooks. I also share what I’m planning for the first runs on this grill: first I’m going to season it, then I’m jumping straight into a first cook with a small brisket (about 3 pounds) and turning it into brisket burnt ends. I’m going to push this smoker and let you guys know how it performs. I also show the pellets I’m starting with—cherry, a blend, and two bags of mesquite. For me personally, mesquite and hickory are my favorites because they give really good flavor, and I tend to stick to what I know works. Stay tuned because I’m going to be pumping out the seasoning and brisket burnt ends videos next.
