About This Video

I made a game called Captain Explosion, and it’s not just hard—it’s literally impossible. It’s a side-scrolling platform shooter where the goal is to find a red key… except the red key isn’t even in the game. The whole point was to build a super polished “real-looking” game so streamers (and anyone watching) would genuinely think it’s beatable, then slowly realize they’ve been trolled. In this video I play through it myself and show why it’s the hardest game I’ve ever made: enemies popping in from off-screen, brutal platform sections, and the absolute worst part—homing rocket launcher enemies that chase you around while you’re trying to explosion-jump and wall-jump through the level. I also explain some of the design choices, like forcing you to backtrack for keys (the blue key is right near the start) and using indestructible blocks to stop people from just rocket-jumping around the whole map. The big takeaway: you can make something “fair-looking” and still be evil, as long as it’s polished enough to convince people it’s possible.
