About This Video

In this video I jump back into one of my older creations: 48 Steps. It’s a puzzle platformer where every single move costs you a step, and you only get 48 to beat the level. The fun (and evil) part is that it’s grid-based movement, so you’re not doing normal platformer momentum stuff—you’re clicking your way across tiles, watching the counter tick down, and realizing you maybe shouldn’t have “tested” that one extra move. If you finish a level with steps left, they carry over, so being efficient early can basically save your life later. I also show how the power-ups work: you can grab one to refill and get another 48 steps, but sometimes going for it costs more steps than it’s worth. That’s the whole game—planning routes, deciding when to detour, and trying not to accidentally press things you “weren’t supposed to press.” In the middle, I also shout out Porkbun for domains and hosting stuff that’s actually straightforward, especially if you’re a game dev trying to get a site up without getting destroyed by renewal prices. Then I wrap it up and point you to my site if you want more of my questionable game dev experiments.
