I’ve used Fiverr a lot for game dev, and one of my favorite things to do is give multiple Fiverr developers the exact same prompt and see what chaos comes back. In this video, I paid four different Fiverr game developers and asked for one simple thing: a horror platform game. Same idea, totally different results—because of course it is. Two of the devs built their versions in GameMaker, and both actually nailed the “playable game” part in very different ways. One felt like a straightforward platformer with attacks, enemies, and a surprisingly cool environment, and the other leaned harder into horror with a “move between light sources and don’t touch the enemies” vibe that I genuinely liked. Then we jumped to Unreal Engine for the last two, where things got more 3D and exploratory—one had me climbing around a map trying to figure out where I’m even supposed to go, and the other dropped me into a first-person world with a unique environment and items to find. The takeaway: paying different devs for the same brief is a great way to see how engine choice, interpretation, and strengths change the final game. Also, horror platformer is apparently a very flexible sentence.
