About This Video

I’ve made a few horror games before (MrBeast horror, a 2D clone thing), but I realized I’d never tried the one genre challenge that truly matters: making the worst horror game possible on purpose. So I opened a fresh Unity project, did what every "serious" developer does, and built the core systems the hard way… by finding assets and importing them. Because I usually make 2D games, going 3D already gives me that perfect "this is kinda scuffed" energy, which is exactly what we want. From there I took every horror game ingredient that’s normally good—enemy design, darkness, puzzles, combat, jump scares—and did the opposite. I made a cube enemy with the same basic AI I use in most of my horror games (random wandering, then chase when you’re close), and I gave it a texture that definitely doesn’t scream “nightmare fuel.” I set the island environment to dark, slapped in a torch lighting system that looks unimpressive, and then invented gameplay: collect wood to craft a boat and escape. Except I couldn’t figure out how to actually collect the wood… so I kept it broken and called it a “puzzle.” Then I added “realistic combat” and random interval jump scares that just happen whenever they feel like it. The best part? I finally found the gun, grabbed it, and the game crashed. Worst horror game ever: shipped.
