About This Video

I wanted to answer a very important question: can AI code a Minecraft update? I’ve already used ChatGPT to remake Minecraft in Unity before, but this time I tried to push it further—remake the core game again (terrain, chunks, movement, building) and then bolt on “update-sized” features like Mojang would. The catch (because I hate myself): I wasn’t allowed to edit any code ChatGPT gave me. If something broke, I had to work backwards and prompt my way into a version that actually functioned. First I had ChatGPT walk me through blocky terrain, chunk generation, a player controller, and a Minecraft-style block breaking/placing system. Once the baseline remake was working, I asked for update content: a new mob, a new weapon, and a new biome. ChatGPT invented the Quartz Golem (neutral until attacked, then it throws energy blasts and does ground slams), and I used Charmed AI to generate a 3D model for it instead of modeling it myself. The funniest part was enemy movement—ChatGPT wrote “impressive” code that didn’t fit my project, so I had to simplify prompts until I got something usable. Then I added a Gravity Sword that messes with enemy gravity, used that to trigger a slam mechanic, added an energy blast attack, and finished with a volcanic biome (obsidian fields + basic volcano generation). It’s janky, but it ships—so yes, ChatGPT can “make a Minecraft update”… if you’re willing to wrestle it into reality.
